Get your running shoes ready now for the second annual Dash for Recovery on Sunday, August 28! This exciting 5K race will be held on Sunday, August 28, in Nashua, New Hampshire, in support of Phoenix House’s Patient Aid Fund. Beginning and ending at Stellos Stadium in beautiful Mine Falls Park, the race offers participants the choice of a 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk beginning at 9:00 AM. Registration opens at 7:30 AM.

Dash for Recovery is organized by Karen McCarthy and Debbie Dunne, prompted by their concern about the opioid epidemic raging across New Hampshire and the many people struggling with its devastating effects. Their efforts are supported by a committee including June Barrett, Skip Cleaver, Paul Joyce, Kevin McCarthy, Sabina McLaughlin, and the Gate City Striders. Sponsors of the event include Bagel Alley, Bagel Boy, Chunky’s Cinema, Fleet Feet, Gate City Electric, Jessica’s Brick Oven Pizza, Joseph’s Middle East Bakery, the New Hampshire Physical Therapy Association, Panera Bread, Poland Spring, Re-Stream, RMK Marketing, and Senibaldi Contracting. Dash for Recovery will offer participants a day of healthy outdoor recreation as it supports Phoenix House’s Patient Aid Fund, ensuring access to treatment for those in difficult financial circumstances.  A post-race celebration will add to the fun, and a raffle will feature great prizes, including an all-terrain bicycle and a number of gift certificates for fine local restaurants.

The inaugural Dash for Recovery, held in October 2015, was a resounding success, and raised more than $10,000 in support of Phoenix House’s Patient Aid Fund. Prominent among the participants was the Honorable Kelly Ayotte, U.S. Senator from New Hampshire, who spoke compellingly of Phoenix House’s invaluable contributions to the battle against substance abuse, and incidentally, won the race in her category.

Register online for the 2016 Dash for Recovery: fees are $25.00 (plus processing) for adults and $15.00 for youth 17 and under, and all participants will receive an event t-shirt. Mail-in and race-day registration costs will be $30.00 for adults and $20.00 for youth. Additional donations are gratefully accepted. Raffle tickets may be purchased online for $5.00 each.
