CBS News: Phoenix House Client Describes Dangers of Pill Addiction

On February 8, CBS News tackled the problem of prescription painkiller addiction–an epidemic that the Food and Drug Administration has called a “major public health challenge.” CBS interviewed Kimberly, a Phoenix House client who developed a prescription drug addiction after being prescribed prescription narcotics following a car accident. At one point, Kimberly was taking 15 pills a day: “I knew that I needed to stop. I knew I did, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.” Kimberly found answers at Phoenix House and has been drug-free for eight months.
