Clients of Phoenix House Career Academy‘s residential substance abuse treatment program are learning a valuable trade and gaining knowledge at our Building Maintenance vocational classes. This course teaches students basic building maintenance and janitorial skills. Planning, management, safety, appropriate use of hand and power tools, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance are covered, with emphasis on the technical and life skills necessary to succeed in the profession. Presentations are conducted in a classroom setting, while hands-on work is done in the workshop with state-of-the-art tools and equipment. Students can also learn learn basic electrical theory and gain experience in residential wiring.
