Phoenix House Hauppauge Center Director Brian Gillam was invited to serve as a guest speaker at a special meeting of the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) to discuss how he and his staff handled the conditions of Super Storm Sandy at their treatment facility. OASAS was very pleased with the performance of our Hauppauge Center staff’s handling of the storm, its power outages, and their emergency preparedness plans ensuring the safety of their clients and staff members on site during the event and its aftermath. We are very proud of Brian, his leadership, and the vigilance of his staff during this storm that ravaged the Suffolk County area.
