A wide variety of healthy, sober activities while in addiction treatment can enhance the program benefits and help in the recovery journey. Phoenix House Academies offer residential treatment programs for teens, and our residents have a wide array of activities available to them each day and each season. At the Academy in San Diego, the latest addition is a new, state-of-the-art basketball court. Enveloped by green and peaceful surroundings, the court will provide a welcome respite to clients as it is set among beautiful rolling hills and magnificent, shady trees. Thanks to the multi-functional design, teens at the Academy can also use the court for tennis and badminton.
We are thrilled to present the opportunity for our clients to spend more time exercising outdoors and taking advantage of the surrounding scenery. Construction has just been completed and we are planning a grand opening ceremony. At that time, we will present our clients with basketball jerseys and facilitate the first game. While the court is currently equipped for daytime use, additional furniture and outdoor lighting will be added soon so that our teens can play in the evenings and cheer one another on as they play.
In addition to basketball, tennis, and badminton at the new court, our residents may participate in an equestrian program, tend to an organic garden, hike, enjoy other sports and board games, and care for animals, such as chickens and dogs. We provide comfortable amenities allowing residents of our substance abuse treatment program to feel at home. Of course, treatment and education comes first. We maintain a fully accredited high school on site with special education services and academic tutoring, allowing them to graduate, work toward their GED, or return to their local school after treatment. Our professional and dedicated therapists help each teen find their unique path back to sobriety, toward an exciting and successful drug-free future.
