2013 Run! Walk! Ride!–For the Health of It!

Run Walk BikePhoenix Houses of New England will present the fifth annual Phoenix House Run! Walk! Ride!—For the Health of It! on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Phoenix House Exeter Center, 251 Main Street, Exeter, R.I.  (Rain date:  April 28).  Originally scheduled for November, 2012, but postponed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, this celebration of life, health, and wellness offers participants the choice of a 3K (1.8 mile) walk, a 5K (3.1-mile) run, or a 20+ mile bicycle ride through the blossoming spring landscape of southeastern Rhode Island.  The day’s festivities, all open to the public, also feature a health and wellness fair, Fit for Recovery!, a bake sale, and an old-fashioned barbecue with live music on the campus of Phoenix House Exeter Center substance abuse treatment center.  Proceeds from the event support the efforts of Phoenix Houses of New England to help individuals overcome  addiction.

Beginning with registration at 9:00 a.m., the cyclists will set off at 10:00, followed by runners at 11:00 and walkers at 11:30.  Fit for Recovery!, a health and wellness fair concurrent with the event, will feature demonstrations of yoga, aerobics and therapeutic drumming, as well as free information on nutrition, substance abuse screening, rock climbing, and other fitness-related topics.

The registration fee is $25 per participant, $10 for seniors.  Additional family members may participate at $10 per adult (18+) and $5 per adolescent (12+).
