After initially refusing to go to rehab, Lindsay Lohan has now agreed to spend 90 days in treatment as part of a plea deal. Charged with reckless driving and lying to a police officer, Lohan pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charges and did not dispute that they violated her shoplifting probation. When Los Angeles Superior Judge James Dabney handed down the sentence, he told Lohan: “A suggestion — don’t drive.”
Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, has said before that his daughter needs rehab. On Monday, despite a verbal altercation with Lohan’s lawyer, Michael Lohan was content with the verdict: “I think Lindsay needed to go and just deal with some of her issues. … She got exactly what she needs.”
Although she was sentenced to jail time for the last two charges, the judge will allow her to serve her time in rehab. She will have probation for two years and 18 months of psychotherapy. According to CNN, Lohan has spent 250 days in five rehab facilities since January 2007.
