Phoenix House Associates is comprised of a community of people in the Metroplex that are dedicated to raising awareness of kids ages 13-17 who are battling addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. The primary channel to highlight the Phoenix House Feinberg Academy of Dallas is typically through education, development of programs, and service activities.
The Feinberg Academy supports kids in their teenage years by: “reclaiming disordered lives, encouraging individual responsibility and personal growth, strengthening families and communities, safeguarding public health and promoting a drug-free society through prevention, treatment, education and training, research and advocacy.”
The Associates’ mission is dedicated to service and raising awareness of addiction while improving the lives and experience of students at the Feinberg Academy. Initiatives currently underway include: Health & Wellness, Mentoring Group, Communications Team, Library & Education, and Special Events. Each initiative has a Co-Chairing strategy in place in order for people to work in teams and share the responsibilities. The goals of each of the chair people are two-fold:
1. to create depth in their respective initiatives through opportunities to serve and
2. to create a legacy for the initiative and find their replacement to lead the group for the coming year on an annual basis.
The Annual Calendar will typically consist of a few mainstay events which include service projects and opportunities to interact and encourage the kids at the center. Some of the events are Quarterly Spruce Up/Maintenance Days, Spring and Fall Field trips that include family social gatherings, Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner.
