About this Facility
Phoenix House Exeter Center, located in a peaceful rural southern Rhode Island setting, provides treatment in an environment exclusively for substance dependent men. Our continuum of care on campus ranges, depending upon each client’s needs, from medically monitored detoxification to short- and long-term residential treatment.
Our residential treatment combines vital counseling, educational, and recreational programs that challenge residents to understand the nature of their substance abuse, commit to living without alcohol and drugs, and acquire successful life skills. Because successful recovery requires the involvement and support of each resident’s family, individual and group family sessions are integral components of treatment. Phoenix House also offers individualized aftercare plans, which are essential in establishing long-term recovery. At Exeter Center, clients experience a new sense of purpose and are motivated to pursue positive goals and values.
Exeter Center serves men who need residential treatment for substance abuse, including those with co-occurring mental health issues. Length of stay is determined by individual assessment and progress toward clinical goals. We offer 30-, 90-, and 180-day treatment tracks based on eligibility requirements and third-party referral. Admission is not contingent on financial resources.
Our treatment plan includes: individual, group, and family counseling; life-skills training and educational/vocational opportunities; education on substance abuse effects and relapse prevention skills; participation in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other appropriate self-help groups.
Phoenix House believes that successful, sustained recovery from substance abuse requires family involvement, support, and encouragement. Families, too, need to reverse the damage of drugs and alcohol. Our staff works closely with family members to help them understand the role they play in recovery. We offer a number of individual and group sessions on a variety of topics.
Our detoxification program offers safe withdrawal from substance use, admitting clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each client is seen by a licensed physician. The average length of stay is between four and seven days. For those requiring longer treatment, extended stay options are available. For more information about the detoxification programs, please visit RESPECT and the Walsh Unit, both located on Exeter Center’s campus.
Phoenix House Exeter Center is accredited by CARF, a nationally recognized standard of excellence.
Most major insurance plans and all major credit cards are accepted.
