Phoenix House has developed and sustained specialized programs for different drug-troubled clients (including adolescents, the homeless, women with children, and youth in foster care), as well as programs that rebuild families torn apart by substance abuse and other destructive factors.
Our well-trained, professional staff adjust services to the needs of our diverse population of clients, including activities that address each individual’s culture, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, and personal goals. Acting with warmth and compassion, the staff is sensitive to the mental health and trauma-related issues faced by clients. The focus rests on recognizing and nourishing individual strengths which serve as a foundation for recovery.
Adolescent Residential Treatment – Phoenix House Academy of Orange County
Located on a spacious campus in Santa Ana, Phoenix House Academy offers a strength-based, gender-specific treatment continuum for teens with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health problems. The program features intensive counseling, education, family and support services. Students can earn high school diplomas at the Academy or return to their home high school after completing the residential phase of treatment.

Adult Residential Treatment Program
Our comprehensive program focuses on preparing men and women for productive, self-sufficient, drug-free lives. Residents are encouraged to examine the roots of their addiction in order to avoid relapse. We provide specialized services for individuals suffering from trauma, mental health and substance abuse disorders. Vocational training and educational courses are a vital part of the program, helping residents to plan for the future and achieve their goals.
Services include: individual and group counseling, substance abuse education, mental health services, cognitive behavioral therapy, parenting classes, anger management, health and wellness program, relapse prevention, life skills, vocational and educational services, job search assistance and placement, and referrals to social services, healthcare agencies, and other services as needed.

Adult Outpatient Treatment Program
Our outpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs in Orange County are designed for individuals making the transition from residential treatment back into the community or for those who select treatment while living at home. Working with clients to help them gain control of their lives by developing emotional, cognitive, social, behavioral, and educational skills is the essence of the Phoenix House approach. All activities are designed to help clients address their alcohol and/or other drug abuse issues and learn to act in their own best interest, as well as in the best interests of their families and communities.

Phoenix House Sober Living for Men
This 15-bed program on the main campus of Phoenix House Orange County features one-and-two-bed rooms, with a large community room. The facility is surrounded by green gardens and includes shaded patios with trees. The residents may use the kitchen and dining facilities on the premises of our adult program next door. The purpose of the program is to provide a safe space for the transitional period after the completion of residential treatment and the full return to independent, productive, and healthy lives in the community. Residents attend outpatient programs while searching for employment, working, or pursuing their educational interests.
Outreach and Recovery Management
Each treatment program listed above has its own Alumni Group consisting of program graduates who continue to meet and together strengthen their resolve to remain drug-and-alcohol free. This network of people with shared experiences helps former clients to continue pursuing their positive goals with ongoing support and recovery-related activities. We work closely with a range of 12-step groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Cocaine Anonymous (CA), in different locations throughout the county. Admissions & Fees
Our services are individualized, based on comprehensive assessments, and including evidence-based approaches to address the full scope of issues associated with addiction, from trauma treatment through parenting and family issues to employment readiness and job placement.

Phoenix House is supported with multiple funding sources. The exact fee paid depends on each individual case, personal income, and funding source. Fees may be paid by:
- Insurance benefits, with co-payments determined by insurance plans;
- MediCal and Drug MediCal for low-income clients;
- Government contracts for qualifying individuals without the ability to pay; and
- Self-pay, with a sliding fee scale, based on income.
