Rising above Addiction

Phoenix House Venice

Phoenix House Venice

Located at 503 Ocean Front Walk (Venice, CA 90291, tel. 310-392-3070), this beautiful three-story, historically designated building has served as a substance abuse treatment location for over twenty years.  Conveniently located near the 10, 405, and 90 freeways, the site is also two blocks from major arterial bus routes and within walking distance of numerous community-based organizations providing social services.  The 53-bed facility features two-to-three person bedrooms and ample shared spaces for programs, counseling, and community activities.

ca-adult-res-VenicePhoenix House residential program for men in Venice is based on the modified therapeutic community (TC) model, whose major programmatic principle is the philosophy of mutual self-help: all activities are designed to help those in our care address their alcohol and/or other drug abuse issues and learn to act in their own best interests, as well as in the best interests of their families and communities. Phoenix House’s structured environment allows residents to gain control of their lives by developing emotional, cognitive, social, behavioral, and educational skills necessary to build successful relationships and assume life’s responsibilities.

ca-adult-res-venice-2 Our treatment approach relies on the concept of the community itself as healer, and of treatment and recovery as ongoing processes related in part to everyday experience; and a view of “right living,” with a clearly articulated value system emphasizing the importance of educational and vocational achievement. Our services include individual and group counseling, substance abuse education, mental health services, cognitive behavioral therapy, parenting classes, anger management, relapse prevention, life skills, vocational and educational services, job search assistance and placement, and referrals to social services, health service providers and other services as needed.
