Since many women suffering from addiction have been traumatized in the past, our services take into account mental and emotional health, so that our clients can build a new life based on their personal strengths and resources and by connecting to services in the community. From initial assessments, and a warm welcome to the program, women receive guidance from well-trained staff and support from their peers in a modified therapeutic environment which offering gender-responsive services. Women are offered individual and group counseling, vocational education, family services, and an array of other specialized services, as needed.
Phoenix House views substance abuse as a disorder of the entire person – involving feelings, thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors – and thus necessitating fundamental change to achieve recovery. This holistic approach focuses on each individual woman; program participants learn to accept personal responsibility for themselves and others and are helped in their quest to find the support that will enable them to adopt more effective methods to cope with life’s difficulties.
