Phoenix
House Venice

 ca-adult-res-Venice
Located at 503 Ocean Front Walk (Venice, CA 90291, tel. 310-392-3070), this beautiful three-story, historically designated building has served as a substance abuse treatment location for over twenty years.  Conveniently located near the 10, 405, and 90 freeways, the site is also two blocks from major arterial bus routes and within walking distance of numerous community-based  organizations providing social services.  The 53-bed facility features two-to-three person bedrooms and ample shared spaces for programs, counseling, and community activities.

ca-adult-res-venice-2Phoenix House residential program for men in Venice is based on the modified therapeutic community (TC) model, whose major programmatic principle is the philosophy of mutual self-help: all activities are designed to help those in our care address their alcohol and/or other drug abuse issues and learn to act in their own best interests, as well as in the best interests of their families and communities. Phoenix House’s structured environment allows residents to gain control of their lives by developing emotional, cognitive, social, behavioral, and educational skills necessary to build successful relationships and assume life’s responsibilities.

Our treatment approach relies on the concept of the community itself as healer, and of treatment and recovery as ongoing processes related in part to everyday experience; and a view of “right living,” with a clearly articulated value system emphasizing the importance of educational and vocational achievement.

Our services include individual and group counseling, substance abuse education, mental health services, cognitive behavioral therapy, parenting classes, anger management, relapse prevention, life skills, vocational and educational services, job search assistance and placement, and referrals to social services, health service providers and other services as needed.

Phoenix House Santa Fe Springs

ca-adult-res-santa fe-2Phoenix House in Santa Fe Springs (11015 South Bloomfield Avenue, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670, tel. 562-941-8042), in operation since 1999, is designed for women with young children and offers three nicely furnished and newly re-painted dorms, an outdoor rest and recreation area, a large multi-purpose meeting/community room, mid-size meeting rooms used for group counseling, and private offices for counseling sessions.
ca-adut-res-Santa Fe
The outdoor area, refurbished through Los Angeles’ Big Sunday volunteer effort in May 2008, features a gazebo and serenity garden which creates a safe and welcoming reflection/meditation space for women.  There is a children’s play area and space for family meetings of mothers with children. The site is conveniently located near major freeways (5, 605 and 105), as well as bus routes (Florence Avenue and Norwalk Blvd.).

The scope of services at Santa Fe Springs is similar to those described above that are offered at our women’s program in Monrovia, with one important difference – women may have their young children in residence and the program offers an increased emphasis on parenting, child development, and family counseling.  We encourage women to find solutions to their personal barriers to healthy life and provide them with all available resources for full recovery.
