What do you do about drugs that have recently come on the scene, like cheese or K2?

As drug treatment professionals, it is an important part of our job to stay on top of new trends in drug and alcohol use – such as cheese in Texas (a combination of heroin and Tylenol), K2 (synthetic marijuana), and FourLoko (a combination of alcohol and caffeine). This means we monitor availability as well as client attitudes about and use of these substances. We test for new substances whenever possible and we work with the community to make sure parents, educators, health care providers, and others are knowledgeable about new substances, and how to best respond to these trends.
