How often can I speak with my loved one while she is in residential treatment?

Each Phoenix House treatment facility has different rules about how often clients can talk with or see family and loved ones. The best option is to check with your loved one’s counselor.  Many clients have phone privileges at least weekly, but if they need to call several different people, you may not be able to speak with them as frequently. Personal cell phones are typically not allowed, at least initially, in most of our residential programs because we have found that outside distractions can make the client’s transition to a recovery lifestyle difficult, particularly if the client is calling people they used to drink or get high with.

Phoenix House also allows in-house visits at most of its programs, as well as family visit passes, although these privileges may not begin immediately. Clients can also write and receive letters.
