Phoenix House Receives $250,000 from First Southwest Company Grant Honors Hill A. Feinberg
DALLAS, TX, July 13, 2004 – Phoenix House, Texas has
received its largest donation to date – a $250,000 grant from First Southwest
Company – given in support of the Phoenix Academy of Dallas. The grant
was awarded by the board of directors of First Southwest Company in recognition
of the generosity and leadership of Hill A. Feinberg, and his commitment to Phoenix
House and the children of Texas.
The Phoenix Academy of Dallas, founded in October, 2002, is a residential high
school that provides substance abuse treatment to more than 30 adolescents –
helping them catch up academically and reclaim lost opportunities. In recognition
of the support of Mr. Feinberg, the facility has been named The Hill A. Feinberg
Academy.
Hill A. Feinberg, chairman and CEO of First Southwest Company joined the Texas
board of Phoenix House in 1996, and has served as its chairman since 2002. Mr.
Feinberg, a resident of Dallas, is active in numerous industry, civic and charitable
organizations. He is currently chairman of the board of directors of the MBM
Foundation, which is the governing board of the partnership of Menninger Clinic
– Baylor College of Medicine – The Methodist Hospital Foundation.
He is also a member of the boards of Cardiopulmonary Research Science and Technology
Institute and Zale Lipshy University Medical Center.

in Dallas and surrounding counties correct mistakes of the past and start new
and better lives," said Phoenix House regional director Michael Hathcoat.
"We are delighted to see Hill Feinberg’s public service and commitment
to Phoenix House honored in this way and we are proud that the Academy now bears
his name."

Founded in 1946, First Southwest Company serves more than 2,000 municipalities
nationwide with financial advisory, underwriting, placement or related services
on the issuance in excess of $20 billion in municipal obligations annually. The

Phoenix House, founded in 1967, is the nation’s leading non-profit substance
abuse treatment and prevention organization, operating more than 100 programs
in nine states with a treatment population greater than 6,000. In 1995, the Office
of the Governor of Texas invited Phoenix House to provide in-prison substance
abuse treatment. Since that time, Phoenix House has focused on community-based
programs, and now operates 12 programs in and around Dallas, Austin and the Houston/Galveston
Bay area.
