Welcome to Phoenix House Texas

Phoenix House has been providing substance abuse services in Texas since 1995 and currently operates programs in Dallas, Austin and the Houston/Galveston
Bay area. Among these are two Phoenix Academies for teens in Austin and
Dallas - residential high schools that provide comprehensive drug and
alcohol abuse treatment to adolescents while helping them catch
up academically. In recent years, Phoenix House has expanded 
its focus to provide prevention and education
programs for Texas teenagers.

  Nokia Brings Holiday Joy to Texas Academy Teens
Nokia employees brought an abundance of cheer to teens striving to overcome addiction at Phoenix Academies in Austin and Dallas in December, in the form of holiday gifts and contributions. The young residents were greatly appreciative of Nokia's generosity. For some, this was the first time they ever even received holiday gifts. Read more and see photos

Phoenix House Tackles “Cheese” in Dallas
A dangerous new drug known as “cheese” has skyrocketed in popularity in Dallas area schools, spurring Phoenix House to actively combat its use through community and school prevention programs as well as providing treatment to adolescents already hooked on the trendy drug. Read more

   

HBO and Phoenix House Host Screenings
Texas public policy officials, foundation representatives, and treatment professionals were among the attendees at a preview screening of “The Adolescent Addict,” part of HBO’s groundbreaking multi-platform 14-part series on addiction, on March 7 in Austin. Phoenix House supporters turned out the previous evening in Dallas for a sneak preview at a local art gallery. Phoenix House Names Monty Mueller to Head Texas Region
Monty Mueller has been named to head up Phoenix House of Texas as vice president and regional director. He is responsible for the management of a wide range of substance abuse prevention and treatment services in Texas including residential and outpatient treatment, aftercare and family support services.   Nokia Helps Phoenix House Teens Celebrate Season
Nokia employees generously donated more than 200 gifts to teens working to overcome substance abuse while catching up academically at the Hill A. Feinberg Academy in Dallas. Phoenix House hosted a very special holiday party at which the Nokia staff personally delivered the presents to the students, joined the teens for refreshments, toured the facility and learned more about life and treatment programs at Phoenix House. Austin Academy Part of National Campaign
The Phoenix Academy of Austin was the proud host of the Office of National Drug Control Policy for a roundtable discussion about the latest trends in teen drug use in Texas. Held as part of the 10-city Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign tour, the roundtable was lead by lead by Bertha Madras, deputy director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and featured accounts drug use and the road to recovery as shared by two Phoenix Academy students.   Texas First Lady Celebrates Family Day at Phoenix Academy
Students and faculty alike were delighted that Texas First Lady Anita Perry chose to visit the Phoenix Academy of Austin in honor of statewide Family Day. Read more.

Students Capture the Capitol City
The Austin prevention team gave kids in their program a disposable camera, and then took them to locations around the City on an educational photo shoot. Some of the shots were chosen for an exhibit at the Children’s Museum. Read more.
 
 
 
 
 

  A Day Out at The Dallas Contemporary
Students at the Hill A. Feinberg Academy in Dallas were asked to share their feelings about contemporary art during a luncheon at The Dallas Contemporary. Before an audience of some 350 art patrons these students, who recently completed an art appreciation course, “Art Think to Go,” gave insightful reviews of the works in the current show. Opening Doors and Minds at the Austin Academy
An open house at the Phoenix Academy of Austin attracted old and new friends of Phoenix House. Among the guests were district judges, human service professionals, educators, and executives from Texas Monthly magazine, A Glimmer of Hope Foundation and the Theodore Davis Charitable Trust. Phoenix Academy counselor with Austin teens getting drug help   In Focus: The Phoenix Academy of Austin
When the Phoenix Academy of Austin first opened its doors in the summer of 1997, there were just eight teenage boys enrolled in the residential treatment program, located in a small, single frame house in East Austin. Since then, Phoenix Academy has grown to accomodate over 50 residents.
