Phoenix House Hosts 2007 Fashion Awards Dinner

New York, NY, May 1, 2007 — More than 400 members of the fashion community – including Leonard and Evelyn Lauder, Donny Deutsch, Susan Sokol of Vera Wang, Howard Socol and Simon Doonan of Barney’s New York, Inc. – gathered to honor Rose Marie Bravo, Vice Chairman of Burberry and Stefani Greenfield, Co-Owner of SCOOP NYC this evening at the Phoenix House 2007 Fashion Awards Dinner, a black tie event.

The Phoenix House Fashion Award is presented to leaders in the fashion and retail world to honor their commitment and dedication to serving the community. Funds raised by the dinner support Phoenix House’s substance abuse treatment programs for men, women and teenagers, including residential high schools known as Phoenix Academies. A RAND study found Phoenix Academy treatment more effective than other programs for teens in reducing drug use and unlawful behavior.

“The fashion industry has always supported the efforts of Phoenix House to further improve our teen treatment and expand access for young people in need,” said Howard Meitiner, president of Phoenix House. “Our young people need our assistance and support in battling addiction. Tonight, the fashion industry has once again helped marshal its power and influence to address this pressing social issue.”

“I am so touched to be honored by Phoenix House, this great organization where so few do so much for so many,” said Rose Marie Bravo.

“I believe that, because of the example set by my peers of helping those in their community in need, the great work of Phoenix House will always be in fashion.  I’m honored to be amongst this fine ensemble of leaders who work as hard as they care,” said Stefani Greenfield of SCOOP NYC.

Past recipients of the Phoenix House Fashion Award include Frank Doroff, senior executive vice president and general merchandise manager of Bloomingdale’s; Andrew Rosen, president and founder of Theory; the late Kalman Ruttenstein of Bloomingdales, Burton Tansky and Joan Kaner of Neiman Marcus, and Katherine Betts of Time Style + Design.
