58th Artists and Writers Softball Benefit Set for August 19, 2006

EAST HAMPTON, NY, July 14, 2006 – Come cheer for your favorite celebrity at the 58 th Annual Artists and Writers Softball Game on August 19, at Herrick Park in East Hampton. Celebrity batting practice starts at 1:00 p.m. and the game begins at 3:00 p.m.

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be calling balls and strikes as umpire when Alec Baldwin, Roy Scheider, Bob Balaban, Mercedes Ruehl, Mike Lupica, Ken Auletta, Dan Klores, Greg Bellow, Eric Ernst, Randy Rosenthal and many others step up to the plate for three worthwhile charities:

  • Phoenix House runs substance abuse treatment and prevention programs for adults and adolescents, including the Phoenix Academy of Long Island, a residential high school for 50 teenagers located in East Hampton.


  • East End Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients, their families and loved ones. Hospice also offers bereavement counseling and sponsors a summer day camp for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.


  • East Hampton Day Care is dedicated to helping lower income working parents by providing a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of preschool children.
